THE SECRETS KNOWN TO SKILLED MISSISSIPPI PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS: WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU NEED IN 2024 FOR SURVEILLANCE?

One of the ways you can determine if a Mississippi private investigator is “solid” is by looking at the cameras he or she uses to gather evidence.  Many investigators are known for being “old school” and are not quick to upgrade their equipment if it means spending a few extra dollars.  However, those of us who take pride in the quality of our video (investigators who fall into the “solid” category) know that by investing in our equipment, we will put ourselves in the best position to get our clients results they can use.  It is common to find investigators using Sony camcorders from 2015 that have little-to-no image stabilization, no low-light filming capability, and lacking some of the latest technological features such as wifi connectivity.

Honestly, if you are paying an investigator to perform surveillance, and they show you a camera like this (see image below) you have made a mistake by hiring them.

There is no excuse for a professional investigator to charge $90+/hour while using a camcorder released over a decade ago.  Regardless of what they may like about their camera, no camcorder on that level can consistently obtain top-quality video evidence.  Let’s go over a few of the more advanced cameras that “solid’ Mississippi investigators have in their arsenal:

Camcorders:

A “solid” Mississippi private investigator will own multiple camcorders and utilize different models for different situations.  For example, if the investigator is filming hand-held during the daytime from inside his vehicle, he will use a prosumer model with strong image stabilization.  One of the last things any investigator wants is to capture great subject activity, only to later learn the footage is extremely shaky and out-of-focus.  Newer, more expensive models, have great optical stabilization that helps compensate for those situations where the investigator must film by hand at long range.  It is quite difficult to max out your camera’s zoom capabilities to film a subject nearly 1000 feet away when shooting by hand.  Without the assistance of image stabilization, the investigator will be lucky if they capture any usable video under these circumstances.

A great camcorder I own is the Sony FDR AX-53 (see image below), which shoots in 4K and has some of the best image stabilization on the market.  Here is a link to purchase this camera: https://www.sony.com/gh/electronics/handycam-camcorders/fdr-ax53

Covert Cameras:

A “solid” Mississippi private investigator will own multiple covert cameras from a reputable company.  Any investigator who claims they can gather all of their covert video with their cell phone does not fall into the “solid” category.  Those in the “solid” category may have multiple covert cameras, and the company that makes the best products is Lawmate.  For example, I own Lawmate’s 4K Keyfob (see photo), which looks exactly like a normal keyfob you would use to unlock your vehicle.  However, this model is a fully operational covert camera that shoots video in 4K and has Wifi connectivity.  This allows me to connect the camera to my cell phone and view the live feed while operating the camera remotely.  I also own a coffee cup made by Lawmate (see photo) with a covert camera built into the lid.  While it appears to be a regular coffee cup, it shoots high-definition video and has the same wifi connectivity as the keyfob.  Here are links to these purchase these covert cameras:
